Enterprises Losing Grip on IT Environments

A third of organizations state that the additional responsibilities they currently shoulder were not part of their purview five years ago. For instance, five years ago, 52% of IT and security teams weren't responsible for ensuring the security of office, remote, and hybrid employees. Today, this responsibility falls squarely on their shoulders. Furthermore, over 40% now bear the responsibility of managing and protecting applications in public cloud environments and data in SaaS environments, even if they don't own those areas. Since 2020, these tasks have become more challenging, with 30% of teams indicating that managing and protecting public cloud environments and data in SaaS environments is considerably more complicated than before.

Directors of IT and security identify the management of a continually expanding business landscape as a significant challenge while ensuring the productivity and security of their teams. Nearly 50% of organizations see the increase in the quantity and types of users, including people, machines, and third parties, as one of the top five challenges. Other highlighted challenges include the difficulty of maintaining or improving team productivity (44%) and the need to address a growing attack surface (44%). If not addressed appropriately, these challenges will directly impact customer experience, productivity, and the organization's competitive advantage.

A resounding 98% of organizations believe that the concept of cloud connectivity benefits businesses by providing safer, more efficient, and universal connectivity. Survey respondents see this solution as an accelerator for digital transformation and a means to reduce the attack surface. Executives foresee increased productivity (58%), improved marketing processes (54%), and a general increase in revenue (54%) with the implementation of cloud connectivity.
